The Idle Management System is a factory-installed and integrated engine-off heating and cooling idle management system that comes in the T680 sleeper. The system is a battery-based APU (auxiliary power unit) tied directly to the ducting system. An optional fuel-fired heater provides full heat with the engine off. It also has a very small under-bunk footprint to maintain storage space for drivers. The Kenworth Idle Management has also proven to extend air conditioning performance. The controls for the system are all on board, and once the truck is powered off, the driver uses the control panel to both set the temperature control and monitor remaining battery power. The system also features integrated power management to ensure the truck has enough power to start, while maximizing the performance. The environmental impact of the system is minimal. Another great feature demonstrating why Kenworth is ‘The World’s Best’.
